Gugulethu Mbatha (better known by the name Gugu-Mbatha Raw) is a British actress and film star that became popular when she was a part of the BBC series "Doctor Who", a British sci-fi TV show. Gugu was famous due to her performance as Tish Jones. This was the character's sister. Her father was Jewish and she was raised within Reform Judaism. Handler was raised in a safe neighborhood and had a happy childhood. As a teenager, Handler made the move into Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Handler had to turn into an actress in order to live. Handler started doing stand-up as a full-time comedian when she turned 21. She had discovered that she has a knack for storytelling. The beginning of her career Handler started out her profession as part of the Oxygen network all-female cast for an undiscovered camera/real-life joke television series Girls Behaving badly. This show aired between 2002 and 2005. The handler then began appearing in several other shows like Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began her career as a journalist for The Tonight Show. Handler got her most famous break in 2006, when she took over hosting of E! named The Chelsea Handler Show. The show lasted during two consecutive seasons. Handler was then seen in the United States on Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend as well as HBO have broadcast her stand-up comedy performances. The show was announced to host the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in the year 2010. Roseanne is the only woman ever to host the VMAs.
